Success Principle #15 - Experience Your Fear and Take Action Anyway

Most people let fear stop them from achieving their goals and dreams. Sooner or later you will have to confront your fears. Successful people also feel the fear, but they don’t let it stop them from doing anything they want to do.

Fear is something that needs to be acknowledged and experienced, but then do what you need to do anyway!

Some people would do anything to avoid fear – those people risk never getting what they want out of life, because there is always something holding them back! You have to be willing to be terrified in order to reach those goals. I’m talking about a GOOD terrified; it’s a terrified that keeps you on your toes.

Jack also reminds us in the Success Principles book that fear is self-created – and for us, that’s a GOOD thing. It’s a good thing because that means that because we are the ones doing the fantasizing, we are also the ones who can stop the fear and bring ourselves into a state of clarity and peace by facing the actual facts, rather than giving in to our imaginations.

Psychologists like to say that fear means:
Fantasized
Experiences
Appearing
Real

Make a list of things that you are afraid to DO. (for example I am afraid to ask my partner to take out the trash)
Now, go back and restate each fear using the following format:
I want to _____________________, and I scare myself by imagining _______________________.

You need to remind yourself from time to time when you feel that fear creeping up – that all fear is self-created by imagining some negative outcome in the future.

One way to get rid of your fear is to ask yourself what you are imagining that is scary to you, and then replace that image with its positive opposite.
