"In order to be successful in life and career, see what you want and get what you see," says Jack Canfield, author of New York Times bestsellers like Chicken soup for the soul series. "It's called the power of visualisation. Visualise your success everyday and it will become easier for you to achieve it." Canfield said: "Believing in yourself is the key to success."
Here are 3 ways in which visualization accelerates the achievement of any success:
1. Visualization activates the creative powers of your subconscious mind
2. Visualization focuses your brain by programming its reticular activating system (RAS) to notice available resources that were always there but were previously unnoticed
3. Visualization magnetizes and attracts to you the people, resources, and opportunities you need to achieve your goal
Lets remind ourselves now, that the subconscious cannot tell the difference between what is real and imagined. So your brain will work day and night to find a way to make what you visualize a reality. Isn't that fascinating?
How is this for a fact: Harvard University researchers found that students who visualized in advance performed tasks with nearly 100% accuracy, while students who didn't do any visualization achieved only a 55% accuracy. That should be enough to convince you to start visualising! :)
Jack Canfield explains HOW VISUALIZATION WORKS TO ENHANCE PERFORMANCE:
1. It programs your brain's RAS to start letting into your awareness anything that will help you achieve your goals
2.It activates your subconscious mind to create solutions for getting the goals you want. You'll start waking up in the morning with new ideas. You'll find yourself having ideas in the shower, while you take long walks and while you're driving to work
3. It creates new levels of motivation. You'll start to notice you are unexpectedly doing things that take you to your goal. All of a sudden, you are raising your hand in class, volunteering to take on new assignments at work, speaking out at staff meetings, asking more for what you want, saving money for the things that you want, paying down a credit card debt, or taking more risks in your personal life.
THE PROCESS FOR VISUALIZATION
All you need to do is close your eyes and see your goals as complete. This is what Stephen R. Covey, Best Selling Author of the 7 Habits of Highly Successful People meant with his principle "Begin with the end in mind". You start by seeing your goal as already achieved. Fill in ALL of the details of this goal. If it is to buy a new sports car, smell the interior, what do the seats look and feel like? What color is it? How fast does it go?
Make the image as bright and clear as possible. You may not get a superbly clear image right away - but with practice, patience and persistence, the picture will become clearer.
Write down each of your goals and objectives, review them, affirm them and visualize them every day!
Each morning when you wake up, and each night before you go to bed, read through the list of goals, close your eyes after each one and re-create the image of that completed goal in your mind.
The whole process shouldn't take you longer than about 15 minutes.
Jack Canfield suggests that if you meditate, you should do your visualizations right after you finish meditating. "The deepened state you have achieved in meditation will heighten the impact of your visualizations".
Your visualizations do not JUST have to be pitures. Add in sounds, smells, tastes and feelings to the pictures to multiply the effect many times over
"You can bring the same emotional intensity to your own visualizations by adding inspiring music, real-life smells, deeply felt passion, even loudly shouting your affirmations with exaggerated enthusiasm"
If you have trouble visualizing and need a bit of help - I suggest getting yourself a large piece of cardboard - get pictures of your goals.. Ie your future car, your dream house, a loving couple, places you want to visit - Whatever it is, get a picture and add it to your vision board. Put this board somewhere where you can see it every day.
Lets begin today and see how our worlds are transformed in the process :)
Yours in success
